Pereseal FR Fire-Rated Acrylic Sealant

Pereseal FR is an intumescent acrylic that cures to a firm but flexible seal. At about 180 °C it chars and expands to two to three times its volume, closing the joint against heat, smoke and fire.

Warringtonfire tested it in linear gap seals in concrete walls and floors to BS 476 Part 20:1987. The seals held integrity for up to 240 minutes, and a 10 mm gap sealed 10 mm deep over polyethylene backing rod held both integrity and insulation for the full 240 minutes.

On site it handles like an ordinary acrylic. It guns from a standard cartridge, tools with soapy water or a damp spatula, and takes paint once cured. It also cuts sound through the joint: 62 dB for a single-sided seal 12 mm or more deep.

Good to know

• The fire rating belongs to the tested seal: build the joint to the wall or floor, gap width, sealant depth and backing rod in the report
• Maximum joint width 50 mm; minimum width and depth 5 mm
• Keep it away from water for 24 hours after application
• Not for joints that stay submerged
