Interior gaps and cracks

Paintable acrylic sealant for wall gaps, cracks, skirting, frames and ducting before decorating.

What matters here

Interior gaps usually get painted, so the sealant has to take paint. That rules out standard silicone. Acrylic is the right chemistry: it fills, tools smooth with soapy water and paints over once dry.

Paintable gaps: use 702

Pereseal 702 handles gaps between wallboard, skirting, ceilings and frames, wall cracks, and mortar or concrete joint repairs. It takes up to ±15% movement in joints from 5 mm to 50 mm wide, and it cuts sound transmission through partition joints.

Cracks that keep coming back

A crack that reopens after every repaint is still moving or has moisture behind it. Deal with the cause first, then open the crack to at least 5 mm wide, fill it with 702 and paint.

Questions to ask

Will it be painted?: Use 702. Standard silicone doesn't take paint.
Is the joint wet or moving a lot?: 702 takes up to ±15% movement and isn't for joints that stay wet. Use AF for showers and sinks and N for exterior movement joints.
Is it in a fire-rated wall?: Use Pereseal FR. It's also a paintable acrylic, rated up to 4 hours to BS 476 Part 20.
When can it be painted?: 702 skins in 20 minutes and needs 24 hours away from water. Paint once the bead has dried through.
