Short answer
Keep unopened sealant cool and dry: 5–25°C for 702, FR and MP, 5–30°C for 802, N and AF. Shelf life is 24 months for 702 and FR, and 12 months for our silicones. Don’t use expired or damaged packs on work that matters.
Singapore’s daytime temperature already sits at the top of the storage range, so where you keep sealant matters. A carton left in a van or a site container in the sun ages far faster than one in an air-conditioned store.
Shelf life by product
- Pereseal 702 acrylic: 24 months unopened, stored at 5–25°C
- Pereseal FR fire-rated acrylic: 24 months, 5–25°C
- Pereseal MP silicone: 12 months, 5–25°C
- Pereseal 802, N and AF silicones: 12 months, 5–30°C
Those figures assume the pack has stayed in that range the whole time. We make Pereseal in Gul, so stock from us is fresh. It hasn’t spent weeks in a container on a ship.
Keep it cool, dry and out of the sun
Store cartons in the shade, off the floor and away from water. Air-conditioned storage is best. Don’t leave sealant in a vehicle, on a roof or in a metal container in the sun.
Silicone cures with moisture from the air, so a dented cartridge or a split sausage starts curing inside the pack. Acrylics like 702 and FR are water-based, and heat dries them out. Neither recovers once the damage is done.
Signs a pack has gone off
- Past the date on the pack
- Hard or lumpy sealant beyond the first few centimetres of the nozzle
- Very stiff to gun, or it comes out separated, stringy or runny
- Doesn’t skin in the time the data sheet gives: about 15 minutes for 802, N and AF, 20 minutes for 702
- Still tacky long after it should have cured
- Swollen, dented or leaking pack, or a plunger that has moved
If you see any of these, stop and open a fresh pack. Don’t mix old and new sealant in the same joint.
Can you use expired sealant?
Out-of-date sealant sometimes looks and guns normally but won’t cure properly or won’t grip. You can’t tell by squeezing some onto cardboard. On a façade, a fire-rated joint or glazing, don’t use it. A new cartridge costs nothing next to cutting out a failed joint.

Opened packs
An opened silicone cartridge starts curing at the nozzle. Leave a small bead sticking out of the nozzle or cap it, and the cured plug protects the rest for a while. Pull the plug out before you use it again. Use part-used packs soon, and only on joints that are easy to redo.
A cut sausage can’t be resealed well. Plan the work so you finish it.
